Microsoft Outlook: Hide Messages Marked for Deletion with IMAP

By default Outlook shows email messages marked for deletion with a strikeout line through the messages. Most people prefer to hide the message.

  • To hide messages marked for deletion, from Outlooks's View Menu, Choose: Current View, "Hide Messages Marked for Deletion"

  • The messages marked for deletion will now be hidden from view instead of being shown in the light grey text with the double lines.

  • If this option is not selected, the user's Outlook screen will look like the image below. Note that the email messages displayed in grey text with the double lines through them have already been deleted.
  • Microsoft Outlook Screen: Deleted Emails Shown with Strikeout Text

  • If the "Hide Messages Marked for Deletion is selected, the greyed out emails with strikeout text above will be hidden from the user's view.
