After 20 Years, I'm Abandoning Windows for a MacBook Pro
After decades of being a Windows developer and user, I've decided to switch to a Mac. Here is some of what I've learned.

Install fink. fink is a collection of Unix software, ported to Mac OS-X. I have installed:
- svn-client-ssl. It asked if I wanted to install:
(1) db44-aes-shlibs: Shared Libraries for db44-aes
And I chose (1). I'm not sure of the impact of this decision.
(2) db44-shlibs: Shared Libraries for db44 - xemacs. It asked if I wanted to install:
(1) xemacs-base-pkg: Basic files needed for xemacs package installation
I chose (1). I'm not sure of the impact of this decision, either. It then asked:
(2) xemacs-sumo-pkg: All xemacs packages together - (1) xemacs-efs-pkg: Allows xemacs to fetch files from the FTP site or mirrors
(2) xemacs-sumo-pkg: All xemacs packages together
Again, I chose (1). I hate the caps lock key. The only time I ever press it is by accident. Here's how to disable it: http://mkaz.com/archives/86
NeoOffice is OpenOffice, but with a native Mac GUI. OpenOffice itself runs as an X-Window application, which has a number of issues. Download and install NeoOffice. Don't forget to install any updates after installing the base package.
